SJM to revamp two flagship hotels
(Macao SAR) Recently announced by Daisy Ho Chiu Fung, the chairperson of SJM Holdings, renovation work for the Grand Lisboa casino-hotel is expected to commence next year without any plans for introducing additional rooms. Ho said that preparations were already underway for the 431-room hotel.
The upcoming revamp, according to Ho, will provide additional features such as restaurants and shops. The project is scheduled to complete in 2025, before another project kicked off for the Lisboa hotel in 2027.
Based on a plan unveiled last year, SJM intends to invest a total of MOP2.5 billion in renovating its two flagship hotels on the Macau Peninsula, the Lisboa Hotel and the adiacent Grand Lisboa, in order to offer more non-gaming facilities.

Former court building phase 2 renovation to commence
In Macao, the Public Works Bureau (DSOP) has announced that the second phase of the renovation project to transform the former court building to house the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) has attracted 23 bids. DSOP recently announced that, the estimated construction costs for phase 2 range from MOP214 million (USD26.54 million) to MOP256 million, with a projected construction period of 530 to 550 working days.
Located on Avenida da Praia Grande, this hi storic building is being preserved in its original form throughout the ongoing revamp. Spanning 3,524 sq m, the renovation project involves two sites: the former court building and the former Judiciary Police headquarters. The renovation is being carried out in two phases. The ongoing first phase includes foundational work, basement construction, and improvements to the external walls.
The second phase of renovation, scheduled to start next year, will focus on interior decoration and the construction of a new three-story building with a one-floor basement.
