22 non-official and eight official members to the Task Force on Land Supply appointed
The Chief Executive has appointed 22 non-official and eight official members to the Task Force on Land Supply. Stanley Wong will be Chairman with Greg Wong Vice-Chairman.
The appointments will run for one-and-a-half years from September 1. The Development Bureau said the task force will build on the Government's multi-pronged land supply strategy and review and evaluate other land supply options.
The bureau added the group will also hold public discussions on the pros and cons of the different options so a consensus can be reached in the community and recommendations on the overall land supply strategy made for the government's consideration. The group will hold its first meeting on September 6. Its membership list will be gazetted on September 1.
The government is studying the subdivided public housing plan to tackle Hong Kong’s housing problem.
Secretary for Transport & Housing Frank Chan said, the government plans to obtain vacant units from the community and turn them into transitional housing to help the needy.
Mr Chan said the government has secured several-hundred vacant units so far, and he hopes the plan can be launched by year's-end. The government is studying the implementation details and will announce the plan when it is set, he added.
