Greatwall Office Complex is located in the District of Wuchang in Wuhan, representing an important development adjacent to a central communication spine within the eastern district. 10 DESIGN has worked closely with the client and the local government to create a sustainable commercial development.
     Due to the ongoing retail focused development in Wuchang district, the Government required the client to consider the relationship of the lower podium with the surrounding city context, provide a positive addition to the streetscape, engage with the existing urban realm, and create new public space. The project aim to create a new dynamic and iconic working environment for the city of Wuhan.
     Through the testing of possible site solutions the client and IO embrace the principle of allowing the pedestrian streetscape to extend upwards along the face of the podium, providing the client with valuable south east facing F&B terraces and the city with valuable and accessible public space.
     In addition through careful consideration of the internal circulation within the podium, the design team animated the façade with circulation space as opposed to the traditional blank solid face of retail malls.
