The largest residential site in Kai Tak site sold for HK$9.89 billion
The tender for probably the largest Kai Tak residential site has been awarded on a 50-year land grant at a premium of $9.893 billion, the Lands Department announced on March 27. The site at Kai Tak Area 4B Site 1, New Kowloon Inland Lot No 6576, was awarded to a syndicate formed by Wheelock Properties, Henderson Land, China Overseas Land & Investment and New World Development. With a site area of 9,583 sq m, the lot is designated for private residential purposes. The minimum and maximum gross floor areas are 40,249 sq m and 67,081 sq m.
     On April 12, URA announced that Chow Chung-kong will succeed Victor So as the Urban Renewal Authority Board Chairman for three years from May 1. Secretary for Development Michael Wong said Mr Chow, who has a long record of public service and vast experience in the business sector, will be able to lead the authority to meet future challenges. Other appointments are nine new non-official non-executive directors. They are Vincent Cheng, Ivy Chua, Ho Wing-cheong, Lee Ho-yin, Elaine Lo, Prof Tang Bo-sin, Judy Tong, Andy Tong and Wong Yuen-shan.
