Shangri-La Mixed-use Development in Fuzhou awarded
The future Shangri-La Mixed-use Development in Fuzhou, Fujian province of China is an exciting undertaking by the Shangri-La Group. The scheme will see the smart transformation and expansion of the existing high-end hotel, which completed in 2005, into a mixed-use urban resort combining luxury hotel, business, retail, dining and entertainment.
The original hotel will be renovated and interconnected to a new multi-level recreational and retail podium and Grade A office tower more than 120,000 sq m in total. Emphasising modern mixed-use design principles, Lead8 has created a boundary-less environment, seamlessly integrating spaces and greenery throughout.
Designed by Lead8, the project was recently awarded at the Asia Pacific Property Award in the ‘Mixed-use’ category.
“Our design approach for this high-profile site is best described as a layered approach to ‘Old meets New’. Not only are we balancing refurbishment with new build, we also wanted to create a connection between the city’s rich architectural history and visual culture and the contemporary and innovative luxuries expected by the modern consumer,” explained David Buffonge of Lead8.
Construction has already commenced on the new, multi-dimensional development with an expected completion date targeted for 2022.
