MoU on Construction Robotics and Automation System Development signed
The Construction Industry Council (CIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) on May 20 to drive the development of construction robotics and automation systems for betterment of the Hong Kong construction industry.
     According to the agreement, the CIC and HKSTP will collaborate in establishing an accreditation scheme to uphold the standard of construction robotics and automation systems. The two institutions will also co-organise technical visits, conferences, workshops and exhibitions to promote the collaboration, as well as provide training, competence assessment and certification of personnel to accelerate the application of technology in the construction sector.
     The MoU signing was witnessed by The Hon Mrs. Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government, Mr Nicholas Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, and Mr. Michael Wong, Secretary for Development.
     On the same occasion, HKSTP held a construction commencement ceremony for the “InnoCell”, another pilot scheme applying the Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) technology in Hong Kong.
