Works on Hong Kong Pavilion for Expo 2010 commenced
Construction works started on the Hong Kong Pavilion for Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo).
The stand-alone Hong Kong Pavilion, located south of the China Pavilion and adjacent to the Macau Pavilion, will occupy a site of about 600 sq m within the China Pavilion Area in Pudong.
The Pavilion's theme is: "Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential". It will highlight Hong Kong's unique characteristics and showcase the city's creativity as well as connectivity with the Mainland and the world. The three-level pavilion will have a sleek, contemporary look. The middle level is mostly transparent giving the pavilion a distinctive image that symbolises the infinite imagination and creativity of Hong Kong and its people. The design of the pavilion is based on the winning entry - the "Pavilion of Infinity" - of a concept design competition held by the Government in 2008. Construction is expected to take about 11 months. Shanghai Expo will be held from May 1 to October 31, 2010, under the theme "Better City, Better Life".
