The Government published a notice in the Gazette on improvements to Tuen Mun Road (TMR) Town Centre Section to meet anticipated traffic growth. The scheme had been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.

     The works include widening of the Town Centre Section of TMR between Yan Oi Town Square and Wong Chu Road from dual two-lane to dual three-lane carriageway; construction of a single-lane flyover; installation of noise barriers and noise enclosures; reconstruction of four existing footbridges; improvement of three existing traffic light signal-controlled junctions along Castle Peak Road; and ancillary works involving geotechnical, drainage, landscaping and utility works, installation of traffic control and surveillance system as well as modification of directional signs.
     The scheme will start at the end of this year for completion by the end of 2013.
