The Government published a notice in the Gazette on infrastructure works to be carried out at the north apron of the former Kai Tak Airport to meet the anticipated traffic demand induced by housing and government office developments in the area. The scheme had been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.
The works include construction of new roads; temporary and permanent closure and realignment of existing carriageways and footpaths at the north apron area of the former Kai Tak Airport; provision of two footbridges and a subway extension across Prince Edward Road East; and ancillary works including waterworks, drainage and landscaping works.
The scheme will start this year for completion by 2014.
