PUBLIC FACILITIES
Shatin-Central Link
The Shatin-Central Link (SCL) will traverse
several districts. It will serve the New
Territories, Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.
The project comprises two parts:
• Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section: It will
extend the existing Ma On Shan Line
from Tai Wai to the West Rail Line via
East Kowloon to form the East West
Corridor.
• Hung Hom to Admiralty Section: It
will extend the existing East Rail Line
across the harbour to Wan Chai North
and Admiralty to form the North South
Corridor.
There will be 10 stations (Tai Wai, Hin
Keng, Diamond Hill, Kai Tak, To Kwa Wan,
Ma Tau Wai, Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom,
Exhibition, Admiralty) covering a distance
of 17 km (Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section: 11
km and Hung Hom to Admiralty Section: 6
km) and construction is in full swing.
Shatin-Central Link
South Island Line (East)
South Island Line (East) is a medium-
capacity railway connecting the current
MTR network from Admiralty Station to the
Southern District of Hong Kong, via new
stations at Ocean Park, Wong Chuk Hang,
Lei Tung and South Horizons. This new rail
line is designed with features responding
to the transport needs of the community. It
Exhibition Station will also promote tourism development and
economic activities in Southern District.
The construction of the South Island Line
(East) began in May 2011 and it is expected to
complete at the end of 2016 or early 2017.
